With AP ruining the surprise Friday and announcing LeBron James has won the NBA’s MVP award for the third time, the “King” is in some exclusive company. James, who is expected to except the award before the Heat’s next game, is among just eight players who have won at least three MVP trophies in their careers. Unfortunately for the Miami Heat guard, he’s the only one on that list without an NBA championship. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell and Michal Jordan top that list, with a combined 16 MVPs and some 23 titles between the three of them. It’s an amazing trio of players that shows just how far James must come before he’s considered one of the best of all time. While he’s got more MVP trophies than say a player like Kobe Bryant (who has only one MVP), he still has a long ways to go in the championship rings category (Kobe has one for each finger). A look at the most valuable MVPs (players with at least three MVPs) and the number of championship rings each player has: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: 6 MVPs, 6 titles Bill Russell: 5 MVPs, 11 titles Michael Jordan: 5 MVPs, 6 titles Wilt Chamberlain: 4 MVPs, 2 titles Magic Johnson: 2 MVPs, 5 titles Larry Bird: 3 MVPs, 3 titles Moses Malone: 3 MVPs, 1 title LeBron James: 3 MVPs, 0 titles Tags: kobe bryant, lebron james, michael jordan [Back to NBA](https://ballhyped.net/category/nba/) NBA more reports ### [Linhumanity](https://ballhyped.net/2014/11/linhumanity-in-l-a/) If it was called “Linsanity” when Jeremy Lin helped lead a winning turnaround with the New York Knicks in 2012,… NBA By BallHyped Staff · November 12, 2014 ### [Durant: Nike shoes re-signs KD](https://ballhyped.net/2014/09/durant-nike-shoes-re-signs-kd/) Kevin Durant will continue wearing Nike shoes, having signed a deal reportedly worth more than $265 million over… NBA By BallHyped Staff · September 3, 2014 ### [Kevin Durant Isn’t Coming Up Short, We Are.](https://ballhyped.net/2013/05/we-must-cut-kevin-durant-some-slack/) It’s time for everyone to cut the crap.
