By D.Vasso · Published 2012-10-01 NHL October 16, 2012 So as I was blogging for broad street buzz earlier complaining about nothing really happening with the negotiation talks, something actually was happening. Of course as soon as I tweeted the link to my article, news broke out about a new potential deal between the NHLPA and the Owners. It was the league who actually proposed the new deal. The proposal is a 50/50 split of hockey related revenue that would be valid for at least six years. Their purpose for this proposal is to make sure that the fans actually get to see hockey this year and a full season. If it goes through the NHL will drop the puck on November 2nd with plans to add games into the current schedule to reach 82 games. The proposal also does not include rollbacks on player’s current contracts. So it is going to happen? Well nothing is set in stone yet and of course the NHLPA is going to sit on this proposal for a while to read through it and decide if it is the best option. This is exciting news and a lot of fans like myself are sitting there crossing their fingers and hoping this happens. Just don’t hold your breath just yet.
