The original hit on Crosby that led to his concussion battle
Crosby is without a doubt one of the star players in the league, he is both loved and hated around the league mainly for the same reason. Because he is just that good. Some Flyers fans can even admit this, they hate him for his ability to see just how the puck is going into the back of the net. It’s a trait that other players must admire and wish to emulate. Philadelphia loves to hate Crosby, so without him on the ice when the two Pennsylvania teams are pitted against each other the rivalry seems not as intense.
Hockey needs Crosby back for these reasons, but Crosby’s body doesn’t seem to want to be back, frustrating the hockey world and Crosby himself. The Pens have just released more information about Crosby’s injury concluding that he suffered more than just a concussion from two back to back hits to his head last January. After being reevaluated by another doctor after being out since early this December, doctors now believe that Crosby had a neck injury on top of his concussion like symptoms. The good news about this new finding is that his doctor’s believe the neck injury has healed.
After being out from last January from the original hit to his return of to this season in November, Crosby has only been on the ice for a little less than a month of playing because he quickly felt the return of concussion like symptoms.Crosby has been skating with the team a bit during practices, so he’s not completely done, but the question remains on whether or not he will return this season. If he does not return to this season, does that mean an end to Crosby’s career in the NHL? A lot of players in the NHL eventually retire because of serious injuries such as the one Crosby has been battling with, but most of these players are veterans and a lot older than Sid. Right now all the 24-year-old forward can do is rest up and hope to return to hockey in the months to come. With no definite timeline on his return, the rest of the hockey community can wait along with him.
