Linhumanity

If it was called “Linsanity” when Jeremy Lin helped lead a winning turnaround with the New York Knicks in 2012, what shall we call what’s going down in Los Angeles right now?

Watching the Lakers play this season has been inhumane for the purple and gold faithful, not to mention the rest of the NBA, as Los Angeles fell to 1-7 on the season tonight with a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Next up for the Los Angeles Lakers? The World Champion San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.

The Lakers are mired in their worst start since the 1950. While they’ve been putting up some points (11th in the NBA in PPG), they’re struggling at the defensive end (ranked 30th in opponent PPG) and hurting on the glass (26th in RPG). Then there’s that “Linability” to share the ball, as Kobe Bryant continues to force shots (scoring 33 points on 35.7% shooting in the latest loss) and the Lakers rank 20th in the league in assists per game.

It was supposed to be Steve Nash, who is now out for the year with a back injury and eating up $9 million in salary in the process.

Is it Lin, the guard who went from a D-Leaguer to an international superstar almost overnight, when he was signed by the Knicks in late 2011 and went to tally at least 20 points and seven assists in his first five starts? Not to mention hitting the game winning trey with .5 seconds left against Toronto.

As we’ve seen in previous years, Bryant has a hard time deferring at the offensive end, just like Carmelo Anthony, which led to the end of Linsanity in NY.

Makes you wonder how long the Linhumanity is going to last in Los Angeles.

One thing is for sure, Kobe isn’t going to stand for it much longer if this Linsanity continues.
