Jeremy Lin = Tim Tebow

NBA section graphic for Jeremy Lin = Tim Tebow

Jeremy Lin is the NBA’s Tim Tebow. He’s playing – and winning – in the league against all odds.

The undrafted New York Knicks guard has turned his team’s season around despite not being “as gifted” as the million-dollar athletes that surround him.

He’s a hustler. He’s a scrapper. He’s a winner.

All he does in Lin baby! And he’s all anyone in his sport can talk about right now after scoring a New York Knicks’ season-high 38 points in a 92-85 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

The Knicks’ four-game winning streak behind their new star is reminiscent of the Denver Broncos’ six-game streak behind Tebow.

Think it’s a stretch to compare the Asian-American undrafted guard out of Harvard to the white quarterback out of National Champion Florida.

Just listen to Lin speak, and you can see where the comparisons take root:

“I’m just gonna thank my team. … It’s fun to play basketball with these guys,” Lin told ESPN after the game. “This is my dream. I’m just thankful to God, man, because this is my dream being lived out.”

A dream that he wants to take little credit in.

“Basketball is a five-player sport. We’re all on the same team and we all feed off each other,” he said at halftime. “It’s not like it’s just me. It’s not like it’s just Tyson (Chandler). It’s all of us.”

Now listen to Tebow after the Broncos beat the San Diego Chargers for their fourth-straight victory.

“I guess, first and foremost I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Tebow told after the Broncos beat the Chicago Bears 13-10 last season. “And after that I just want to thank my teammates and coaches.”

Then after their fourth-straight win over the San Diego Chargers, Tebow continued to give the praise to his teammates: “I think my teammates make me look a lot better than I am. They really stepped up and came up with some huge plays, and I’m so proud of them.”

And like Tebow, Lin is already hearing MVP chants from the crowd … just four games into this magical run.

And like Tebow, Lin is doing more than letting it fly from long range. With 41.5 seconds left in Friday’s game, Lin even took a charge to seal the victory (the NBA’s version of an option run by the quarterback).

I mean, NBA stars take charges about as often as NFL quarterbacks keep the ball on option runs.

But like Tebow, Lin just doesn’t care about putting his body in harm’s way and doing whatever it takes to get the win.

Heck, even Kobe Bryant was looking like Tom Brady tonight when he went up against Lin and the Knicks, playing lights out down the stretch and letting everyone know he’s still the best guard in the league.

But unlike Brady in his two meetings with Tebow and the Broncos, Bryant was unable to pull out the victory Friday.

Instead it was Lin and the Knicks who walked out of Madison Square Garden victorious.

“He’s just a good point guard,” Knocks coach Mike D’Antoni said of Lin. “He has a little bit of everything. He reads the situation and tries to make the right play. He’s just playing well.”

What a week it’s been for Jeremy Lin. Here’s a look at his past four games:
